Class Descriptions

LSVT BIG

This is a moderate intensity class, focused on repetition and reinforcement of large amplitude movements.  Performance of the 7 LSVT BIG Maximal Daily Exercises constitute the first half of the class, with the remaining time targeting integration of BIG movements through additional exercises, balance retraining, and gentle stretching.

*Requirements

  • Must have previously completed LSVT BIG program with a certified PT and/or OT

  • Must be able to perform standing exercises with one-handed support

BALANCE & FLEXIBILITY

This low intensity class will start with controlled flexibility exercises in both sitting and standing. We will then progress to using that new found range of motion to work on balance activities in standing positions to improve stability and confidence with daily activities.

*Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform standing exercises with one-handed support

CHAIR YOGA

This low intensity gentle yoga class. We will focus on gentle stretching, core strengthening, and improved postural control all from a seated position. All levels of ability are welcome!

*Requirements:

  • This is an all levels class

PWR! MOVES SEQUENCING

If you’re looking to add some cognitive challenges into your workout, then this is the class for you!  A moderate intensity class based on PWR! Moves with integration of flow sequences and dual-tasking to further challenge your coordination, memory, and multi-tasking capabilities. 

*Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform standing exercises with one-handed support

UPPER BODY: COORDINATION & POWER

This is a primarily seated exercise class targeting the fundamentals of arm function. Exercises include range of motion, boxing, strength training, and hand dexterity, which have a strong correlation to carryover for improved handwriting and increased efficiency with fine motor tasks.

*Requirements

  • No pre-existing upper extremity injuries or conditions that result in pain with movement of arms or have physician directed range of motion restrictions

CORE & FLOOR

In our core program we will be targeting strengthening of the trunk, hips and shoulders. Our core is the foundation of our movement, therefore, these activities are designed to carryover to improve posture, balance, bed mobility and walking.

*Requirements

  • Must be able to independently lower to and rise from the floor with use of a chair
